The exceptional indigenous talent of Trinidad and Tobago was on full display at First Citizens Corporate Carnival event, titled Taste of Steel, at the bank’s corporate centre at Queen’s Park East, recently. Celebrated steel orchestra First Citizens Supernovas set the tone for an extraordinary evening, which also featured an exhibition of artwork by the alumni of the Department of Creative and Festival Arts, The University of the West Indies (UWI), St. Augustine Campus.

Titled “Mettle”, the art exhibition was accentuated by the powerful melodies of the steel pan. Guests enjoyed the visual and musical pairing which evoked a strong spirit of hope and tenacity in the face of an increasingly challenging social and economic environment, with pieces that reflected the significance of people, places, and steelpan to Trinidad and Tobago’s resilient culture.
